Who owns Kimi AI?
Kimi was created by Moonshot AI, a privately held company founded in Beijing. Moonshot has founders and multiple investors; no complete current public cap table lists every shareholder percentage. Read Who Owns Kimi AI?.
Is Kimi-AI.free the official Kimi website?
No. Kimi-AI.free is an independent informational publication. It does not provide official accounts, subscriptions, downloads, billing or customer support. Use Official Kimi Links to reach verified destinations.
Free Access and Pricing
Is Kimi AI free?
Yes, Kimi currently provides free access on web, desktop and mobile. Official membership documentation also states that K2.6 in regular Chat does not consume membership credits. Advanced models, agents, documents, research and higher limits can require credits or a paid membership. See Is Kimi AI Free?.
What Kimi membership plans are available?
The current international Help Center lists Moderato, Allegretto, Allegro and Vivace. Prices, taxes, currency and availability can change. See the dated table on our Kimi AI Pricing page.
Is Kimi API included in a membership?
No. The consumer membership, Kimi Code benefits and Kimi Open Platform use separate product, key and billing systems. The Open Platform is pay-as-you-go. See Kimi API Pricing.
Do unused membership credits roll over?
Current Kimi documentation says ordinary membership credits refresh according to the applicable cycle and unused amounts do not carry forward. Kimi Code can also have separate short-term or weekly limits. Check the current signed-in usage display.
Accounts and Access
Where do I log in to Kimi?
Use the official Kimi website at Kimi.com or an official app. Kimi-AI.free does not display a login form and never needs your Kimi password. Open our Kimi AI Login guide.
How do I create a Kimi account?
Register through the official website or app using a sign-in method available in your region, such as email, a supported phone number or an offered third-party method. See Create a Kimi Account.
Why did my verification code not arrive?
Confirm the address or number, wait a few minutes, check filtered messages and then use the official resend option. Current Kimi guidance says unsupported regions, VoIP numbers and landlines can be rejected.
Can Kimi-AI.free recover my account?
No. Only the official Kimi support team can review account access, suspension, billing or deletion. See How to Contact Kimi Support.

Where can I download Kimi?
Use the official Kimi download page or the verified App Store and Google Play listings. We do not host installers. See Download Kimi AI.
What files can Kimi process?
Current Kimi guidance lists PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images, text and video. It currently states a 100MB limit per file and up to 50 files in a consumer workflow. Extraction accuracy and feature support depend on the file and product route.
What is the difference between Kimi, Kimi Work and Kimi Code?
Kimi is the general assistant workspace. Kimi Work is the desktop product for local files and professional workflows. Kimi Code is a coding agent for terminal and IDE use. Each product can have different permissions, quotas and data rules.
Can I use the same Kimi account on different devices?
Current official guidance says supported conversations synchronize when the same account is used. Tasks relying on local files may need to continue on the computer where the files exist.
Models and API
Which Kimi model should I use?
K3 is the flagship model for complex coding, reasoning and knowledge work. K2.7 Code is coding-focused. K2.6 is a lower-cost general model and can use non-thinking mode through the API. See Kimi API Models.
Is Kimi open source?
Moonshot publishes downloadable weights for selected models. “Open-weight” does not mean that the hosted Kimi service, training data and complete production system are open source. Read the license attached to the exact model.
What is the official Kimi API endpoint?
The international OpenAI-compatible base URL is currently https://api.moonshot.ai/v1. Model IDs, parameters and regional endpoints must be checked in current Open Platform documentation.
Why is the Kimi API not working?
Capture the HTTP status, error.type, message, request ID, endpoint and model. A 429 can mean server overload, an account rate limit or insufficient quota. Use Kimi API Errors and Troubleshooting.
Safety, Privacy and Reliability
Are Kimi answers always accurate?
No. Kimi can generate inaccurate facts, citations, calculations, code or tool actions. Verify important claims in primary sources and test code in an isolated environment before production use.
Should I upload confidential information?
Not until the terms and privacy controls for the exact Kimi product meet your requirements. Consumer, API, business, coding and third-party routes can have different data rules. Remove unnecessary personal and regulated information.
Does Kimi use content for model training?
The current international consumer Privacy Policy describes processing user content to provide and improve services, including model training and optimization, subject to jurisdiction and available choices. API and enterprise routes can have different rules. Check the current policy for your exact product.
